I hav-ed been vedy busy these days. You know in a couple of weeks I have been here for almost a year! And it has been a year of ups and downs. So my mami got her friend from the cold North to bring down some Yoga books, so that Toto and I can practice, and keep our heads, bodies and spirits over flowing with serenity. Itsy Bitsy Yoga is quite fun. So far I have learn-ed; Toes to the nose, So Big, Sitting Tree and Clappy Happy Namaste! Sometimes when I am getting a little ornery in public, mi mami makes me do the poses to divert my attention, and it works!

Mi papi y mami y yo walk-ed to Cementario de la Chacarita yesterday. It was really really cold, de verdad! We all had to wear hats as the wind was blowing all the way from Antartica! Do you like my wheels? I am already driving and I am only 7 months, muy impressive, no¿ These days I have been-ed exercizing and building up my muscles. Yesterday I stood up on my own in the bathtub and tried to climb out. Mi papá says the only thing that is delayed is my teeth. They are there, but have yet to cut through. But, mi mamá is perfectly okay with that!

Things have been busy here. I am busy learning to grow up! For the past six weeks I have been crawling around the house. This keeps mi mamá extra busy washing the floors. Now I am starting to stand up by getting on my knees. Also I have been eating now too! Calabaza - pumpkin, banana, zapallitos, zucchini, warm tortillas and pan - bread and the occasional cookie too! I love food, it might even be better than leche!

Dress Up

Mi Granny in Canada sent a lovely box of goodies last week. It had a beautiful multi coloured blanket made especially for me inside, as well as a matching scarf, which mi mami says I can not wear until I am much taller.

One especially fun thing inside, is mi mami´s white fun fur hat, that she would wear on very brrrr cold days in Canadaland. Did you know it gets quite cold here in Porteñoland in the winters? I know it hard to believe. In fact we saw some silly tourists on Florida street wearing, shorts and flip flops as if we were on the hot beaches of Brasil, when everyone else had on warm coats and sweaters.

So mi brother and I had fun trying on mami´s hat. We had so much fun-ed playing dress up. As you can see with the last foto mi papi was rather
inspir-ed dressing me up. Sort of Velvet Goldmine Glam Rock, don´t you think¿

Backyardigans Do A Sneaky Tango

Or as mi big brother say, Back-jardi-gans! Although the Backyardigans is doing great things promoting the great cultural dance of Buenos Aires, The Tango, like Tango, The Backyardigans are very very addictive.

Mi Papi and his mother has cut off mi brother cold turkey! No more Backyardigans in both households! For Toto has become a Backyardiganhead, which is very dangerous.

Signs of a Backyardiganhead:

1) Constant watching of Backyardigans without stopping for food or even leche!

2)Running to the TV immediately when entering the house.

3)Backyardigan paraphernalia starts appearing mysteriously around la casa.

4)When Backyardigans is turned off, the Backyardiganhead will cry and throw fits, followed by vomiting all over the casa.

Baby Yoga

Okay, here I demonstrate Half Moon pose, that would be medialuna in castellano. My life as a Diva Porteña is a busy one of late. I don´t know how I fit it in all the fiestas, and milongas I attend with all the leche (milk) drinking, making caca and sleeping I do. But one thing I have started lately that keeps me sane...come to think of it, it actually makes me insane is baby yoga. I have started to do stretches when mi mamá puts me on the floor. Most of the poses I enjoy like taking my feet and putting in my boca (mouth), but now I am learning to roll over. What give me craze is Up Dog, and various Locust positions that I hav-ed tried. Oooooh how frustrat-ed I become and start to cry. Then mis viejos have to come over and turn me over so they don´t go craze over the noise. So Baby Yoga can be a little frustrating at times, but I keep it up because it is part of the program of learning how to crawl, which will be so much fun!

Mi papi took mi in to get my ears pierc-ed last week. It is tradition here in Argentina for little girl babies to have bejewelled ears, but really it is to prevent embarrassment for other people so they can get the sex of the baby right when exclaiming how cute the nena or varon is. You should have seen the confused looks on peoples faces when mami would wrap me in a blue blanket or dress me in my favourite azul onsie. Mis viejos would explain that I wear blue because, duh mi middle name is AZUL! Anyways mi mami didn´t come with us, as she was a bit squeamish to watch, so it was mi papi´s y yo´s bonding time, and he picked out the biggest sparklers he could find, because I am his precious Reina.

¡The Best Story Ever!

Okay, listen carefully because I am going to tell you my favorite story ever!

In a far far away place called Argentinaland liv-ed a mono pelado. He was a happy mono, eating bananas with dulce de leche, drinking mate, scratching his cola, you know doing cosas de monos. Then one day, out of the blue when he was out exploring the wild night life of the concrete jungle of Argentinaland mono pelado spotted a strange breed of mono! A mono extranjera with wavy red fur who did not speak the same mono language as mono pelado. Regardless of their poor language communication skills mono pelado and mono extranjera were always laughing, eating strange foreign foods; such as spicy vindaloo curry that mono extranjera would cook for mono pelado and he would feed her with his feet (an amazing skill you must admit!) his favorite dessert banana with dulce de leche and picking nits off each others back. Quickly mono pelado and mono extranjera fell in amor. And the World became just a teensy bit better for it.

Quiero say un gracias grande to mi papi y mami´s compañeros de trabajo! The plata they collected for me when I was born-ed went towards buying mi a new coche. ¡Mi new coche is genial (cool), and all tricked out with juguetes (toys)! There is even a space for mamis and papis for their take away coffee, but since this is Argentina, there really isn´t such a thing as take away coffee, so mi mamá plans to put Gel de Alcohol Etílico in there instead, por que all la gente de Buenos Aires, keeps touching mi gorgeous self con manos sucias! Well chau, tengo hambre. Time for leche!

Gracias a los compañeros de trabajo de mis papás. La plata que me regalaron cuando nací fue para comprarme un cochecito. ¡Es genial y está tunneado con chiches! Tiene porta vasos para llevar café, pero como en Argentina la gente no acostumbra a tomar café andando por la calle, mi vieja pensó en poner un dispenser de gel de alcohol, porque todo el mundo se la pasa tocando mi hermoso cuerpo con las manos sucias. Tia Tina is in town! Yay! I am so happy to finally see her and she brought gifts from Tango Goddesses from around the globe. Good things like books in inglés for children and a mono tambíen!

Mañana, tia Tina had mi mamá y yo over for lunch, which was very delicious by the way, and then we did a long walk from Congreso to the chi chi barrio Recoleta to look at a new shoe store. The shoes were very well made, but meh, did not give mi tia y mi mamá heart palpatations so no new shoes for them!

It Has Been Awhile

I guess you may have wonder where I have been, as I have not blogg-ed in many days. Sí, drinking leche takes up most of my time, because as you know it helps babies grow big. I grewed 8 centimetres in two months and gained 1.65 kilos. For most porteñas gaining 1.65 kilos would be a tragedy and they would never indulge themselves in leche or anytype of food again except for Ser productos. Of course the more curves I have these days, the more becoming I am! Anyhoodles, as mi mamá says, I unfortunately had another short hospital stay. So again I had to become a human pin cushion, for the doctors to collect cultivos. Mi Doctor says it is just unfortunate I have gotten sick twice in a month, and not due to a weak immune system.

Mi mamá y yo (y sometimes mi papá) stay-ed at Clínica Bazterrica.
It was like staying at a cinco estrella hotel, even the food was delicious!

Mí mamá felt quite nostalgic for Canada, as it seemed as though every movie we watched on the T.V. was made in Vancouver. Also in the mornings her friend and Vancouver yoga guru Kate Potter´s yoga program was on not just once but twice in the mornings on Infinito!

Mis viejos y yo would like to thank Dra. Domingues y her team in Pediátria for making our stay wonderful as a stay in a hospital could be.

Mi family and I returned home Friday after 2 very long weeks in the hospital, so that I could receive treatment for my illness. All is todo bien again. Thanks for all the warm wishes sent to me via mis viejos! Speaking of which, today is a special day for them. Mis viejos met one year ago today in a tawdry boliche called Opera Bay. You just never know when and where you can meet true love.

First tanda (o lo que se dice "a bailar con la más fea")

Mi mamá show me sometimes how hard is to learn tango, and always repeated "tango is life". So I started to learn how to drink milk with no choking, pooing enough to not have cramps. This was the first tanda.
In the second, this Monday I listened kind of a milonga that I was forced to dance: mi papá found out that I have a fever so, he took me to Gutierrez hospital. La milonga was called meningitis, hard to go through but I managed to navigate the dance floor with wonderful doctors as leaders.
This afternoon the hardest moment came. We heard something tough to dance like Pugliese coming from the ultrasound machine: a cyst appeared in my liver.
Tango is life, and both are hard to learn...

Mamá me contó varias veces que es muy difícil aprender a bailar tango y siempre repite "tango es vida. Entonces empecé a aprender a tomar leche sin atragantarme, hacer caca seguido para no tener cólicos. Esa fue la primera tanda.
En la segunda, este lunes escuché una especie de milonga que me obligaron a bailar: mi papá descubrió que tenía fiebre y me llevó al hospital Gutierrez. La milonga era meningitis, dificil de llevar pero pude navegar bien la pista con unos doctores maravillosos como líderes.
Esta tarde vino lo más difícil. Oimos venir del ecógrafo algo duro de bailar como Pugliese: un quiste me apareció en el hígado.
Tango es la vida y los dos son difíciles de aprender...

Mi mamá reads mi blog entries because mis viejos have not buy mi any story books yet, well in engrish anyways. 99 has been posting her chats with her vaca Negrita. Negrita is upset with how new crops are destroying the Pampas and with this ways of gaucho life are disappearing . ¿What is Argentina without her gauchos?! Soulless I tell you, it is what give our great country it´s mysticism along with Tango! I wish Negrita´s stories were cautionary tales, but sadly they are not. This is why I cry for two days straight, not because I am being Diva Porteña like mi mamá thinks.

My First Big Outing

The last couple of days have been hectic, but lucky for mi sometimes I get to sleep through most of it. Mi mamá says you need to accept that to get things done here it can take two tries (or more), so you need to take this advice or else la vida will make you craze (as mi papi says). Yesterday we went to apply for my D.N.I, which is our National Identity Document, but oops.... somebody who was helping us apply for this forgot to bring theirs. ¡Qué lastima!

Entonces, mi papi took mi mami and yo to FUNDALAM, a place where mamis learn to nurse their babies. Mi papi is always taking good care of mi mami and me, and thinking of things like this.

FUNDALAM is a little oasis in the barrio of Nuñez at the end of Cabildo, so it is very easy to get to. No appointment is necessary and papis are welcome too! Of course if another lady shows up the papis have to wait in the reception.

The very nice lady who taught us, Montse actually spoke very good english, she told us how she loved her work and it showed. She checked the quality of mi mamás milk (very good) and mi sucking techniques (really good), and showed us various pumps that are on the market, and mami tried all to find the one she liked. Of course mami liked the industrial milking machine that must cost several thousand pesos. Montse also showed mami all the various postions in which to make feeding me most comfortable for all.

Here are the Secrets to Breast Feeding directly from Montse:

1) Feed baby 9 times a day
2) Change position when she falls asleep
3) Pull her chin down when she doesn´t suck
4) Put finger in her mouth to disengage nipple to avoid injury
5) Always use calendula cream on nipples after feedings

This visit was the most wonderful part of the day, as the beginning was quite stressy. You know what it is like trying to get important documents paper stuff done. oh yes and if you do visit, remember that it is run by donation, so please be generous if you can!

Well telling you about these secret techniques reminds me to put them into practice, so I will have to tell you about todays adventures manaña!

Welcome to my first blog. Mi mamá y papá will be helping me type this as I am not very good yet. Mi mama´s family lives far far away and this is the best way for them to get to know me and watch me grow up. Plus mi tío Hernán is moving away too to Patagonia soon. This is where the Peques live. Do you know who the Peques are? My brother Toto loves watching the Peques. Mamá says I look like a cross between a Peque and an Oompa Loompa because I have orange skin. Sometimes she can be kind of mean, but this is the Tango Gods´way of getting back at her for making fun of Flaco Dany and his orange skin I guess.
Anyhow I need some leche, chau!
